Lenses we stock
Nikon 35mm F1.8- This is a DX so best for DX sensors. It will auto focus on all DX cameras. This is a great everyday lens, low light without flash, no problem, its a f1.8. Sharp lens that is around what we see with our own eyesight on DX cameras, so it’s like the lens that use to come with older film cameras as the standard. Its nice and small, so it’s good for travel. This lens covers portrait, landscapes, architecture and night shots. Its your everyday lens for those that like to frame there photos by walking backwards and forwards (like me).

Nikon 50mm F1.8- This is a super sharp and very cheap lens. Everyone using Nikon should have one. Why, firstly it will work well on most SLR cameras (besides d40 d40x d3000 d5000, they wont auto focus) its great on film cameras to DX and FX cameras so if you buy one for your DX camera it’s forwards compatible and although around $200 its best friends with d3. Whats a 50mm f1.8 apart from sharp? Its focal length is what we see with our own eyesight on a full frame and a good portrait length for DX. Excellent for low light, being F1.8 and great shallow depth of field for portraits. I love my prime lenses, i urge everyone to take a day, leave every other lens at home and enjoy.
Nikon 50mm AFS F1.4- This is a superb lens for indoors or low light. On a DX camera use for portrait or full frame FX for your everyday lens. At f1.4 mean you can shoot without flash indoors, hand held, even for kids, bump up your iso a bit and you can catch the little buggers. Unlike some other f1.4s, this is sharp all the way through from f1.4 and fast Auto focus giving you the perfect shot every time. Unlike the 50mm f1.8, this will focus on all digital SLRs at about 4x the price.

Nikon 85mm F1.8- Portrait lens. The perfect focal length for close portraits. For FX and DX cameras. This is super sharp at f1.8, so for close ups, it nice sharp eyes and dropping out of focus just on the ends of the ears. This lens is an older design, so nice construction but wont focus on cameras without the af motor in the camera ie. D5000 D3000 D40 D40x.
Nikon AFS Micro 60mm F2.8- Fast focus lens, good for portrait (slight dark corners at 2.8) with no limit to how close you can get (up to about 2cm from subject). As a macro lens its good for general macro like most flowers, but because its only 60mm to get 1:1 (life size) you have to be too close and you shadow your subject. Still a good sharp lens and for macro quite affordable (under $800).

Nikon AFS 300mm F4 – This is an extreamly sharp lens. Its a fixed 300 ideal for wild life and sports. Get a seriously sharp lens at a reasonable price. Don’t be brain washed by 2.8. Firstly a 300 2.8 is going to cost you over $7000, 2nd with todays technology you can get that extra stop by up grading your camera (unless you already have the latest). Cameras can now take a successful shot at 3200 iso which is 2 stops better that say 4 years ago. Yes no zoom so yes super sharp, think about it, do you really need a zoom? Are you going to buy a 70-300 and always use it at 300mm? This lens is also useful for portrait and landscapes, it changes the prospective, so you can make your subject look as though the background is right behind it,or them, not miles away.

Nikon AFS 18-55VR- This is an awesome little lens, it focus close so its great for entry to macro. It covers landscapes, architecture, portrait and group shots. It maybe the only lens you’ll ever need. And so cheap. Yes I encourage prime lenses (fixed focal lengths), but this is a great starting point, buy it with a camera and add your specialist lenses on after. Lets not name names here, but compared to Nikons nearest competitor who also have a 18-55, well it wipes the floor, in fact I recommend those on a budget and looking for an entry level camera/lens kit, Look no further than Nikon. It will cost you an extra $400-$500 to get this sharpness from said competitor.
